Problematic Word Pronunciations
As one who grew up in a household where only Spanish was spoken, and having begun to learn to understand and speak English at almost nine, I was at a distinct disadvantage in reference to the correct pronunciation of many English words. But even worse, the Spanish versions of the English words I was being introduced were spelled identically, and this added considerably the confusion. For example, the word vegetables is spelled vegetables in Spanish with the g pronounced as a h, and all other syllables being enunciated. The word Salmon is spelled identically in both Spanish and English, but the l is pronounced in Spanish, whereas in English, it is silent, and the word is pronounced as samon.
So is the word inevitable, a word my mom was constantly pronouncing in the Spanish way whenever she spoke English. So naturally, my pronunciation was sometimes way off. The mispronunciation of the word inevitable was brought to my attention during a brief conversation at age 22. Very embarrassing since apart from such occasional idiosyncrasies, my English vocabulary was far above average.

Now, this doesn't mean that being raised in an English-speaking household, guarantees correct pronunciation. As the video points out, mispronunciations are common even among such family-members since hey learn the words from parents who mispronounced them because their parents had mispronounced them.
That phenomenon becomes glaringly evident when we listen to such native- speaking highly educated persons confidently narrating videos while repeatedly making horrendous pronunciation mistakes involving very common words.
The video focuses on certain words that are commonly mispronounced.
