Why no Outrage over Carpet Bombing Civilians During WWII?
Putin's Disregard for Human Life
In a recent video a supposedly knowledgeable fellow was asked whether the carpet bombing of civilians during WWII was a war-crime, and he glibly responded that it was OK at that time.
But that is totally ethically incorrect. You see, the concept that right or wrong is relatively culturally determined, as the Sophists once taught, was ethically officially discarded long ago as being morally wrong. Instead, it was concluded that as human beings with unique intellectual faculties, and being social creatures, mortal, and able to suffer, there are moral duties that we are under obligation to adhere to:
Among such duties is the respect for the sacredness of human life was declared to be one of them. In short, regardless of cultural differences, the Aztecs were morally wrong in their human sacrifices, as were headhunters or any other society that disregards or disregarded that sacredness.
So the fellow being interviewed was wrong, and his amoral evaluation brings into question his qualifications to be speaking with any authority on this subject.

Putin's Disregard for Human Life
There has been a constant and a worldwide criticism, of Putin's targeting Ukrainian civilian residential areas, and rightfully so. Yet such criticism makes one wonder why those who were guilty of ordering those same attacks on civilians during WWII were never severely publicly criticized for it nor was any attempt ever made to bring them to trial for crimes against humanity.
In short, targeting civilians was also brutal during WWII when thousands of civilians were being incinerated via carpet-fire-bombing of residential areas. Yet, strangely, it was calmly and very proudly considered a patriotic duty to do so.
Of course it was rightfully later tagged as wrong and a crime against humanity. Yet those who ordered those carpet-bombing of civilians, which included residential areas, schools, hospitals, the aged, babies, children and the infirm, and all other noncombatants, were never brought to trial.
Shouldn't they have been?
