Why?
Ever wonder why people who are rational in all other things suddenly become irrational when they are confronted with compelling evidence for the existence of God? That baffled me for a longtime as I kept encountering individuals who simply refused to reason regardless of the evidence presented.
Well, after having debated for approx. six months, at the Randy Discussion Forum to no avail, these individuals finally revealed that the only reason that they were purposefully being irrational was to sabotage any attempt at usage of the DNA as evidence of a creator.
They explained that religion does severe damage to human society and therefore, should never be encouraged. But most importantly, they finally, revealed the real reason for their bitter opposition by describing the suffering that they had experienced during childhood under the strict supervision of religiously fanatic parents who had totally ruined their childhood with their inflexible, religious demands.
This, they said, had transformed them into lifelong haters of religion and of any ideas related to it such, as the existence of a creator. In short, they were willing to ignore all arguments no matter how compelling the might be, as long as it sabotaged religion. So I finally concluded that arguing with them was an exercise in futility and stopped..
