Please note that I am fully aware that we have Afro Puerto Ricans, So the reasons for the objection to her playing the Anita role has nothing to do with her being black. It has to do with her not really being a Latina. This is not my idea. It is something that she revealed during a recent interview.
She said that she had never identified with the Puerto Rican 0r Latino community before this opportunity presented itself. She also revealed that the Puerto Rican community had always considered her too Americanized to be truly Latina.
So that being the case, of course, I am forced to ask what is she doing playing Anita?. For the money? Of course, that is understandable and I don't blame Dubois for i since a job is a job. However, I do I blame Spielberg.
You see, there were genuine Puerto Rican women who auditioned for the role of Anita and who, unlike Dubois. had always identified with being Puerto Rican had always been fully accepted by the Puerto Rican community as genuinely Puerto Rican. So why did Spielberg do this
Also, please note that the original Anita actress, Rita Moreno, was literally forced to smear her face with dark shoe polish in order to satisfy the idea that all Puerto Ricans are very dark complexioned despite her pro
tests that all are not and that she should appear in her natural skin color.
Yes, the Jew Spielberg knew that the original Anita actress had been emotionally traumatized due to this attitude, but he needed to ignore that and went out of his way to rub salt into the emotional wound by choosing an actress who would make Anita not only darker skinned, but an African Latina and in that way would serve to propagate the original attempt to stereotype with a vengeance.
So it is not the actress per se that I creates the controversy, it is Spielberg's seemingly obsessive need to perpetuate the original anti Puerto Rican racist attitude that was displayed towards Puerto Ricans in the original
Notice that he also chose a Polish Colombian female as Maria instead of a 100% Puerto Rican using the same excuse, that she is far more qualified than all the Puerto Rican women who had auditioned.
Sorry but I just can't accept that as a viable explanation.
