Deviated Septum Surgery : Risks, Effects, and Benefits

         There’s a chance you could have slight complications, such as:



     Bleeding


     Infection


     Bad reactions to anesthesia


     Slight tear or hole in the septum


     Sinusitis  symptoms until the infection clears up completely.
 
     Breathing or drainage issues due to other blockages in your sinuses, such as polyps.

     You should be able to go home after the operation, but you will need someone to drive you home.

     Things to keep in mind in the days and weeks following surgery:


     Avoid heavy lifting and other strenuous activities.


     Keep your head raised when you sleep. 

     Avoid blowing your nose.


     Make sure to get all your instructions in writing -- for care of your nose and for medications -- before you head home. It’s very important to follow your doctor’s advice to avoid complications.
