Artificial Intelligence 2019 Update

    It's good to be always aware of just where we are in this crucial area of human progress. We all know what happened to many of the assembly jobs which were once available to the less educated segments of society. One machine could do the world of dozens with more precision and quicker. Of course, the manufacturer would prefer it to paying dozens of workers a salary because it increased his profit margin.



     Well, that same process is now taking place in reference to intellectual activities that were once deemed to have been the sole domain of human workers. For example, the diagnosis of disease is gradually being done via artificial intelligence machines which can swiftly examine and compare and contrast millions of times faster than any human medical doctor can. Will this also be the case with heart surgery or brain surgery? Will these professions gradually be taken over by machines?



     Knowing just how fast we are headed in that direction will prevent cultural shock when we are suddenly replaced by a machine that is deemed better at doing our job than we might ever be. It also prevents us from wasting time studying for a job that they will become extremely scarce or disappear soon after we graduate.
